Making Your Boot Food-Safe
SkiBoozies are 3D-printed from filament, which isn't rated for direct contact with drinkable liquids ie don't pour a drink directly into it and use it as a cup itself. However, we understand some of you go feral at après, so in that spirit - if you want to use it as a chalice or a das boot, here are the two ways people treat theirs first.
Use an Inset Can
Drop a food-safe insert can — like Tossware's 12oz Can — into the boot and drink out of that instead of the print itself. Since it just sits inside rather than being bonded in, you can pull it back out any time to clean it. Check with the manufacturer instructions about dishwasher safety!
Use a Food-Safe Epoxy Resin
Coat the inside of the boot with a food-safe epoxy resin, like Nicpro's Crystal Epoxy Resin, to seal the print so it's safe for direct contact. This one's a permanent DIY treatment — once it's cured, the boot is good to drink out of directly, no insert needed. This does not mean it'll be dishwasher-safe, though - please don't do that.
